Some
Call It The Texas Masonry System.....
(and Star Industries Masonry Equipment
line can provide the equipment you need to use it.)
. . . probably because
it is so widely used in Texas where new homes are rarely less than 75%
to 80% brick. But it works just as well in other areas of the country
and is ideal for basements and for partition walls in schools, hospitals
or prisons, as well as for residential applications.
So many masonry contractors have adopted
this masonry system because it’s simple, fast and inexpensive.
These contractors utilize specialized equipment in addition to their
mixer, including Veneer scaffolds (sometimes called ranch frames or
chicken leg scaffolds and a Brick cart.
(1) Veneer scaffolds, are real time-savers on any
residential or commercial job where walls can be topped out at 8’ or
less, and they are the ideal scaffolding for basements and partition
walls.
"Set them down and they’re set up." Star Veneer
Scaffolds are very light, weighing only 35 lbs, and they have no loose
parts to keep up with. The distinctive "chicken leg" design completely
eliminates the need for braces and makes them faster and easier to set,
even on rough or sloping jobsites. The legs allow adjustment in
two-inch increments to accommodate uneven ground and to set the desired
platform height.

The two-level platform keeps material at the masons' fingertips
and the wall at the most convenient working level. Many
contractors tell us their when they are working off of Star Veneer
Scaffolds. They increase masonry production, cut scaffolding labor cost,
and are less expensive to buy than conventional scaffolding.
(2) The brick cart provides a fast way to spot brick
around the job for stocking on the scaffold. Contractors
report they can stock a job with a brick cart in less than one-third the
time it would take with a brick barrow or wheel barrow. Consider
the time it takes to break a band of brick and hand stack it on a brick
barrow. Compare this to the few seconds it takes to insert the
cart forks into a band of brick. The Star Cart, with its unique wide
high flotation tires, can traverse the roughest of job sites, even
traveling through mud and sand, to quickly place brick for stocking.
(The Star Block/Brick cart works great for placing block, too.)
Look around your city.
Are contractors in your area using this system? Once a few
contractors start using it, the system will spread like wild fire.
There is not a better system to be found for single story masonry work.
